About African Tings: Bridging Cultures, Celebrating Heritage

In the heart of the Bahamas, where the sun dances on the turquoise waves and the rhythm of island life beats, there exists a unique cultural haven called African Tings. Born from the visionary spirit of Uyi, a soul woven from the rich fabric of a Nigerian father and a Bahamian mother, this space is not just a store but a celebration of diversity, a bridge connecting the vibrant cultures of Africa and the Bahamas.

Our Founder’s Journey:

In 2015, Uyi embarked on a digital odyssey founding C.A.P.E. (Creative African Products Express) and u2couture. These e-commerce ventures were more than businesses; they were conduits, connecting people to authentic African products. Uyi cultivated relationships with top designers across the African continent and forged partnerships with efficient logistics companies, ensuring that every piece carried the essence of Africa to doorsteps worldwide.

The Birth of African Tings:

In February 2023, Uyi decided to bring the vibrancy of African culture closer to home. African Tings emerged as a brick-and-mortar extension, a tangible space where the colors, textures, and stories of Africa could be experienced firsthand. The goal was not just to offer products but to create an immersive cultural experience.

A Cultural Alchemy:

Step into African Tings, and you step into a world where the ancestral rhythm of Africa converges with the easygoing vibe of the Bahamas. Authenticity echoes in every corner, from the carefully curated clothing, accessories, and art to the soul-soothing home decor and the invigorating natural beauty and wellness products.

A Feast for the Senses:

Beyond tangible items, African Tings extends its reach to tantalize the taste buds. While physically in the Bahamas, we offer remote access to a curated selection of African food items, bringing the diverse and rich flavors of the continent to your table.

The Philosophy

More Than a Store:

African Tings aspires to be more than a store; it’s a cultural curator. Our vision extends to the creation of events that transcend commerce — African festivals pulsating with rhythm, guided tours that unravel the stories of heritage, and lounges where conversations weave a tapestry of shared experiences.

Our Future, Our Collaborative Canvas:

As we weave the threads of cultural collaboration, we envision a future where African Tings becomes a hub for shared experiences, where people from Africa and the Bahamas converge to celebrate the beauty of diversity. Our journey is a testament to the belief that cultural exchange enriches us all, and African Tings is the canvas where this story unfolds.

Join us at African Tings, where every item has a story, every experience is an exploration, and where the spirit of Africa and the Bahamas harmoniously dance. 🌍🛍️✨
